Overview
Our client required an upgraded surface water isolation system to meet Environment Agency (EA) compliance requirements. The existing units were outdated and posed operational and environmental risks.
Scope of works for the client
We supplied and installed 3 no. stainless steel is to BS EN 10088 Grade 1.4301 (304) bespoke IQ Whipps Fabricated “920 Series” wall mounting Penstocks to suit a 450mm wide x 450mm deep aperture. Each Penstock was designed to work with the existing actuators.
Process and timeline
Following a site assessment, our Technical Team were able to confirm dimensional details prior to commencing with design. We removed the old units and installed the new penstocks, ensuring the units precisely aligned with the existing Actuators. Final grouting was completed to ensure a watertight seal between the Penstock frame and wall. Working under confined space procedures, the installation was completed safely in 3 days.
Conclusion
The project was delivered on schedule, with the new Penstocks fully compliant with BS7775:2005 and designed and managed under our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System. This upgrade enables the client to meet Environment Agency regulations and maintain environmentally safe practices. By tailoring the design to the existing infrastructure, IQ Engineers ensured minimal disruption to site operations while delivering a cost effective, durable and long-term solution.
